I myself am dealing with weird changes in my local weather due to climate change. Unpredictable changes that make it difficult to garden at times. When we are talking about adapting to climate change as gardeners we want to consider crops that will be climate resilient. Climate resilient crops are those that can tolerate extreme weather conditions such as drought, heat, and flooding. Some examples of climate resilient crops include:
- Sorghum: Sorghum is a type of grass that is drought tolerant and can grow in a wide range of soil conditions.
- Millet: Millet is another drought-tolerant crop that can grow in poor soil conditions and is resistant to pests and diseases.
- Quinoa: Quinoa is a protein-rich grain that can tolerate high altitudes, extreme temperatures, and drought.
- Sweet potatoes: Sweet potatoes are a root vegetable that is resilient to drought and pests, and can be grown in a variety of soil types.
- Cassava: Cassava is a starchy root vegetable that is drought tolerant and can be grown in poor soil conditions.
- Lentils: Lentils are a type of legume that can tolerate drought and are a good source of protein.
